Our core purpose is to help you find yours

We all know the saying - I can't see the wood for the trees. Well, this is particularly true when it comes to unearthing your company's core purpose. And if you are just too close to the business that you give the bulk of your waking hours to, then calling in an experienced and talented expert can really help you gain a set of fresh perspectives.


At The Core Purpose Company, this is the only work that we do and so we fall into the rhythm of it quite naturally. We help and guide you and your purpose team through a period of introspection that is necessary to find your organisational purpose within yourselves. Your company's best self actually. It's a two-step process of articulation followed by activation.

The first stage is definition and articulation

The first thing we need to do is to put the necessary foundations in place. This includes the discovery phase and the articulation phase which work in tandem with each other.


We start with an interactive and iterative process to get to the very best articulation of your core purpose. This is your brand's best self. Once this has been locked down and agreed to, we assess your current core values for their degree of fit with your new purpose, and keep the ones that work and introduce any new ones to fully flesh out what you believe in and what you think, act and say. We then commit a five year core vision to writing as this helps us determine our north star and makes the road that lies ahead much clearer. And lastly we build a definition of what we want our culture to be based on these new fundamentals that we have put in place.  

The second stage is activation

Once there is complete buy-in across the organisation for the four key components defined above, then The Core Purpose Company gets to work with both management and staff to find and implement initiatives that bring this new-found purpose to life. In other words, over the next period, we build a strong sense of purpose into both your company and your brand, starting with the human power within the organisation and then finding ways to spread the message to your clients and your community. This is a never-ending commitment, but if we make it a habit, then it will eventually become second nature. In fact, it will actually become first nature as it deeply ingrains itself into the company's way of thinking, being, doing and talking. 

The crucial explorative territory

The Japanese have a concept they use to help them define their own individual sense of purpose. It's called Ikigai and the individual needs to determine four things that relate to her/him specifically. These are: what am I best at, what do I absolutely love doing, what do I get paid to do and what does my world need most from me? Once these are locked down and plotted on a quadrant or intersecting spheres, the intersection of the four components of purpose is the most fertile territory to farm. At The Core Purpose Company we use the same quadrant to help companies focus their efforts in a space where they can expect the best results.  

A strong sense of purpose is ever-lasting

As we have mentioned earlier, becoming a purpose-driven company is not a destination. It's a journey.  So once we have helped with definition, articulation and activation we don't just walk away. We identify the key individuals within the organisation that are most purpose-driven across all levels, and we meet with them once a month to check in on progress on existing core purpose projects whilst helping to spark new initiatives. Having a strong sense of purpose soon becomes a habit within this team and hopefully ends up as one that's advocated by highly successful people.
